I would like to take a moment and tell you a story of what led me to start Trusted SoCal Solar. Back in 2014, I was tired of paying an electric bill that always seemed too expensive. I began, just as you are now, as a customer, seeking information about a better way of taking money that I was paying for something that had to be paid but was never ending and was always getting more expensive. There had to be a better way than what I was doing. 

With a two-story house with every conceivable energy efficient appliance, my family and I were constantly battling drastic temperature differences between upstairs and downstairs. We also had a pool that our kids loved using. Even back then when electric rates were lower than today, we were still paying over $400 in the summer months. I had thought about solar, but my wife strongly told me that she didn’t want me to give her another bill! My wife had demanded that instead of using the air conditioning, that we open the windows, wear shorts, and learn to use ceiling fans. Seeking a solution, I began to learn everything I could about the benefits of going solar. It literally took me 18 months to search every avenue I could to learn about the subject. I got proposals from multiple companies. Back then, there was only a couple of ways to go, purchase (cash or loan) and lease. I ultimately chose a contractor and bought the solar equipment separately. My goal then was to replace my utility company and stop the insanity. 

Unfortunately, what should have been a pleasant and exciting experience turned out to be nothing short of a stressful disaster. I began to have problems after three years and the contractor that installed my system was no longer in business. I couldn’t reach him. After 8 years, my inverter stopped working. Fortunately, it was made by an American company and during the 6 weeks waiting for the replacement inverter, I had to pay the GRID price for electricity because my system was not producing during that equipment failure. I finally got so frustrated waiting that I installed the replacement inverter myself. The positive outcome of all this is that I learned a lot about solar during this time frame such that I became a solar advocate and resource for my friends, relatives, and neighbors. The other positive outcome of my experience is that today my solar system has replaced my electric utility company. I can be comfortable in my home using my air conditioning and enjoying the comforts of my home with no worry about a high electric bill, because I never get one! In fact, the worse that my bill has been in the last year was $29 for only one month of the year. I even generate enough power that I give back to the utility company. Since 2014, I have not only used my personal experience but the opportunity to help hundreds of homeowners like you, understand not only how solar works, but I help people find the right strategy that makes the most sense for them. You see, no two homes are the same in terms of who lives there, how much energy they consume, or even predicting the future consumption needs like a pool or electric vehicle. I help people find the right equipment options, designs, and battery backup systems that makes the most sense for their households. I am committed to not letting others experience what had happened to me in the past.

Due to the rising costs of energy, many people are turning to alternatives. In fact, the Legislature in California introduced Senate Bill 100 back in 2018 that mandates that all homes have renewable energy supplied to them from “locally generated sources”.
